I think that's right except that there are some things that everyone hates and that still need to be done. But, as you say, there's a healthy balance to be struck.

And there's quite a difference between teams where it's ok to take something on and then subsequently say "I'm really struggling to manage this" and those where that would be seen as a sign of weakness or laziness. The former's a sign of a healthy, well-led team.

Totally agree! And I’ve been in both the healthy teams, and the toxic ones where you do what you must, avoid what you can, and try to survive until there’s a change in leadership.
